Profile of Renee (pronounced ree-nee)

Who I am

I am a psychotherapist in private practice in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. I am a licensed professional counselor with national certification, I have a master psychologist's license. I have specialized training in trauma, eating disorders and extensive training in EMDR. I have practiced in hospitals, clinics and private practice.

I am co-founder of A Fighting Chance, which is a clinical center for woman’s issues.

I monitor a support board for individuals suffering from Eating Disorders and have co-authored the SET program for online delivery.

In my personal life, I love travel, learning, outdoor activities, and most of all, time with family and friends.

My approach

I give confidential help in an environment of unconditional positive support.

My practice is a general one, but I see a lot of adults with histories of neglect, abuse, and trauma. The effects of early childhood trauma result in depression, low self-esteem, addictions, anxiety, panic attacks, and Eating Disorders

I use a collaborative approach to empower the individual to move forward in her or his life. Usually this includes re-examining of old wounds, examining patterns of behavior, learning healthy ways of coping with emotions, working through losses and gaining new skills.

A positive relationship is the vehicle for change and growth. This allows one to appreciate and honor one's own experiences and the meaning one attaches to it. A deeper self-understanding is the key to a healthier life style. As Socrates says, "The unexamined life is not worth living"
