SET

Self Effectiveness Techniques (SET) is a new unique educational program specifically designed for online delivery. The program is based on a heavily researched model of change and offers the participants skills to increase their personal effectiveness, increase self-esteem, and gain an understanding of their own personal goals that make life worth living. Individuals participate in a virtual classroom setting completing assignments and selected readings. The program is designed for increased support and awareness while working towards the goal of recovery. The virtual classroom offers peer support as the participants learn to look outside their personal problems to understand their values and how their daily behaviors can help them to move in the direction of their own unique goals. They will learn to clarify their values and understand how issues of gender, culture, and media have influenced their beliefs. They will gain tools to manage their stress and anxiety while feeling in control of their moods. Additional techniques in boundary setting and assertiveness training will give them a sense of mastery and self-efficacy. SET considers the whole person as it helps participants to take a look at themselves in the physical, spiritual, interpersonal, and emotional realms.

In addition to the classroom and assignments, SET offers self-paced, self-study handouts that deal with Bulimia and Anorexia. These are designed for self-help but can be processed with professional facilitators through weekly on-line chats. These chats will be conducted on the ed-support.com website.
